I am glad to finally get back to writing posts again! I love getting to keep track of our own family history this way. April was a super fun month and we were happy to begin it with General Conference. Using some help from online sources we were able to apply a couple of things to help keep Austin's attention during the eight hours of talks from our wonderful church leaders.
Right after General Conference, we had a visitor come into town! Austin's Aunt Cheril just got off of her mission in March and came to stay with us for the month of April. During her stay she helped out a ton including keeping our kitchen clean, making us a door hanging, helping me with the young women, and watching Austin for date nights. She also made us several delicious cakes, helped out our missionaries, did refugee service, and started training for a half marathon. We played Risk, made Cheril watch Doctor Who, and her and I went to the Temple together.

Austin had his school carnival on April 14th and loved seeing his classmates and teachers while he played several carnival games and got balloon swords from a clown
We also worked on family history and even went on a camping trip to Fremont, NE. This was Austin's first time camping and it went really well! I think he liked it, except for when he grabbed the hot end of the marshmallow roasting sticks and burned his hands. Thankfully it was not serious at all (just a couple red marks and blisters) and with the help of a priesthood blessing it healed very quickly. We were very blessed and Austin affirms that he will not be touching another roasting stick.

The stuff on his hands and face is chocolate from making s'mores (in case you were wondering)
Again with silly faces

On our way home from camping we tried Runza sandwiches and searched graveyards to find headstones that others were looking for as part of their family history (via BillionGraves.com).

On April 27th we had a near miss as an F1 tornado touched down in Omaha and traveled straight to our neighborhood. Thankfully it caused almost no damage. I am also grateful that it only passed over our neighborhood as a funnel cloud and shortly thereafter dissipated. We are so blessed! I was pretty worried at work while Jason and Austin were at home and Cheril was driving back from Walmart when the ordeal happened (she made it home in time though). Again, I feel we are so blessed and that Heavenly Father truly does answer our prayers!
Aunt Cheril left on April 30th and we were all sad to see her go (especially Austin). The night before leaving she took Austin to pick out a toy from Grandpa for becoming potty trained. He chose the Mighty Colossus (from Jake and the Neverland Pirates Disney Jr. TV show)
Something Jason and I started this month was having Austin-Daddy/Mommy dates where we spend time totally focused on him to see how he is doing and let him know that we love him. Here are a couple of pictures from those dates.

Just for family history's sake, here is the first picture that Austin drew of me (on the church chalkboard).
Until next time, Happy Adventures!
