Austin really timed his birthday advantageously so that he will receive gifts semiannually on his birthday (June 25th) and on Christmas Day (December 25th). In the couple of months leading up to Christmas we discovered, however, that Austin might be a little apprehensive about the upcoming Christmas Holiday. On November 10th we noticed that this is how Austin would react to the cheerful phrase "Merry Christmas!"

The First Thanksgiving

Ok, so instead of referring to THE First Thanksgiving, this post is actually about Austin's first Thanksgiving. Jason's parents flew us down to their home in Prosper, Texas for the holiday weekend since we had Wednesday through Friday off from school. We had a really fun time and in addition to having his first Thanksgiving, Austin had a few other milestones during the trip as well.
Rock and Roll

Austin rolled over from his back to his tummy for the first time on October 16, 2012. I was super excited that I got to watch him do that, because he had been making efforts for a little while, but had only gotten as far as on his side. Here is a picture immediately after his first rollover.

Brave

Jason bought me the movie Brave on November 16, 2012. It is a great movie in and of itself, but it has lost some of its magic after watching it a couple hundred times. Austin has absolutely loved the movie and having it on would keep him occupied and un-fussy so that we could get a little bit of homework done during the semester. When he was younger and could just sit up (5-6 months old) he would watch the entire thing. If ever you blocked his vision of the screen he would do just about anything to see around you.

Couch History

Our life as poor college students has limited our ability to have very many nice things. When Jason and I were first married, our first couch was purchased from the DI (a thrift store) for $35. Without our brown couch cover that we got as a wedding gift, the couch was - to put it in Jason's words - absolutely hideous. Not to mention it was extremely uncomfortable (it hurt to sit for very long) and was too short for either of us to nap on.
