Austin has been attending football games practically since he was born - his first one at 2-months-old. Since college football season this year just recently ended and we will be moving at the end of this school year, I wanted to post a little photo tribute to our USU football experiences.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays! We can all use a reminder to be more grateful in our lives. This year we spent Thanksgiving with family in Utah.

So I know I'm a little late in posting this, but I just wanted to say Happy Halloween! Austin's first two Halloweens have really been a treat and I'd like to share a little bit about each of them for old memories' sake.

Austin was a SUPER STAR Sunday! He got to participate in his first Primary Program where nursery-aged kids get to share what they learned at church. Normally they only
allow kids that are 18-months to 3-years old to be part of nursery, but since
there are currently only two eligible kids, Austin was invited to participate
in the program because his 18-month birthday falls before the end of the year.

Hooray for school! Actually, the reason there hasn't been a post in a while has been primarily the result of Jason and I having started the semester. Between this and the last post, we have had several eventful happenings in addition to the start of school including family pictures, college football games, running and Austin just growing up like crazy.

Austin is walking EVERYWHERE! There is definitely no stopping him now. He really took off with walking (more than the occasional few steps) about a week or two ago and now it is becoming pretty uncommon to see him crawl. He also really understands so much of what we say and will often help me open and close the microwave and press the start button when we are warming up his milk and will also throw things in the trash or return to our line of sight when we ask him to.

Back to Normal: Logan
Once we got back to Logan, things resumed back to normal for the most part. Here is a quick chronological outline of the last week and a half or so (because we know you all missed knowing all the little details of our life...) :Wednesday, July 31

It has been a while... and we've got a lot to write about! Since it has been a couple of weeks, I'm going to break this post up into two parts - Part 1: Vacation Adventures and Part 2: Back to Normal Adventures (which will come later)...

This week my mom and sister, Kayla, came into town for work and 4-H State Contests. They arrived on Sunday and Kayla left Monday morning to compete (State Contests lasted through Wednesday) and my mom worked each day ~8am-5pm, spending the evenings with us. It was fun having them over to visit and the free babysitting was especially nice! Jason and I were able to go on a nice motorcycle ride (which doesn't happen very often) around Hyde Park and North Logan around sunset.

Making it through this last week was definitely a feat, I'll tell you that much. Izzy, bless her heart, had diarrhea... every day, all day, for the entire week. This proved especially difficult for Jason since Izzy did not limit her bathroom trips to the bathroom (where she normally goes on a "potty pad" used for doggie potty training).

I know it has been a while since I last posted our family adventures, but alas here they are! To sum it up in short - Austin had his first birthday (see this post for details) and some new developments, some family came and visited, and Jason and I worked on some projects.

Happy 1st Birthday Austin!
Posted by

This week on June 25th was Austin's first birthday! I really can't believe that he is already a year old. On the other hand I can hardly remember the time before he was born - it seems like he has been with us for so much longer. Moving on from my reminiscing... To celebrate his birthday we had a big pirate-themed party and invited several nearby family members and also friends that have babies around Austin's age. All in all I think we had about 15 adults and 6 babies in attendance.

I posted a little bit late this last week, but nonetheless we have still had a few adventures over the past couple of days. Austin learned how to make "Indian" noises (when you pat your mouth while holding a note making a "bababa" sound) and he will do it randomly throughout the day, especially after one of us does it. I love it! Partially, because I taught him how. He has also begun to take handfuls of food and stuff them in his mouth. The foods that have fallen victim to this new practice include bananas, pieces of bagel, and he has even fit a couple of whole strawberries in his mouth at one time.

This past week has been another timeless adventure, especially for Austin. One day, when I came home from work, Jason informed me that while he was sitting on the couch Austin stood up, grabbed each of Jason's hands, and walked away from Jason as if to request his help. Once Austin had taken a few steps and was leaning backwards significantly, Jason assisted him in his walking attempt. Since that incident we have found Austin to be a speedy little walker - he will go as fast as his little legs will take him provided that we are there to help keep his balance.

Happy Birthday Jason!

Today was Jason's 25th birthday. He started the day by opening gifts from my mom first thing in the morning - he seemed to really like the clothing choices and thank goodness almost all of them fit since I helped pick them out. After opening gifts, I went into work and Jason worked on cleaning, but I came home early to spend the rest of the day in order to spend time with him and finish the gift from Austin and I. We got him saddlebags for his motorcycle and after I finished waterproofing them we put them on his bike and he was able to go on a ride.

This week was full of adventures. We were invited to a splish-splash play date with some of the other mommy-baby duos from our ward, but sadly Austin came down with a cold on Tuesday and was still pretty snotty on Friday so we skipped out in order to not get the other babies sick. I think he may have passed his cold along to me as well, because Friday morning I felt I should stay home from work.

Austin's hair has a tendency to develop into a mullet really easily. I am not a mullet fan and despite Jason wanting to make Austin's hair into a mull-hawk (mohawk-mullet combination), we have decided that his hair looks better short. As a result Austin has already had three buzzed haircuts since his birth and I think we will keep it short at least until he is a little bit older.

For your information, I've decided to make this blog a compilation of current and past events in our family's history. Periodically I will probably post a few events that have already happened and I will try to post weekly updates for family and friends to enjoy.
This week was kind of a fun week for Austin. He is getting so interactive and is really getting more of a personality. He is talking and squealing ALL of the time. He is also laughing after I say "ewww" when he tries to get his hands where he isn't supposed to while we change his poopy diapers or make faces when he tries to spit his applesauce on me. He'll also laugh and try to run (or rather crawl) away as fast has he can when he is doing something he shouldn't like trying to climb the stairs without us there.

Welcome Home Izzy-Dog!

It was the morning of General Conference which we listened to on our way down to Cabela's in Lehi. This was where we met the family that had our little 7.5 week old puppy. The family from whom we bought her (for $150) were from Nephi and the parents along with 4 or so kids came along. The kids handled giving her away really well - no one even batted an eye when she left which would have been totally different if they had been my siblings several years ago. When we put Izzy in the car, she was terrified and naturally one of the first things she did in was pee - thank goodness for potty pads.

Austin's First Easter!
Posted by
snow
March 30, 2013 marked the day for Austin's first Easter egg hunt. We took him to the hunt in Aggie Village on the MASA field which is between all of the apartment buildings. I was really glad that they divided the age groups and that there was one for the 0-3 year-olds, because our goal for that morning was to get ONE egg. When they blew the horn I ran Austin to the nearest target and set him on his tummy right in front of a green egg.
