After a nice long Christmas break, Jason and Austin started back up with school on January 12th and Austin moved up to the transition class (ages 2.5 to 3). The transition class prepares the kiddos for preschool (starting at age three) for which they must be potty-trained, therefore guess what we have been working on! Thankfully we have many pairs of underwear to handle the 3-5 undie changes we go through nearly every day. Austin (with the help of chocolate and other treats) is learning fairly quickly how to go in the toilet.
Making sure his T-Rex has his undies and socks on
Austin had his 2nd ever dentist appointment on the second day of the new semester and it went pretty well... until they lowered the back of the chair. That was a little scary and by the time he was lying on his back he was crying, which in the end actually helped the dentist have better access since his mouth was wide open. Austin also continues to learn SO MUCH and often gets into a little bit of trouble. Example:
About a week ago Jason received a letter inviting him to interview for graduate school at Ohio University! A couple days later he got a phone call from his current professor informing him that he is accepted to graduate school at UNO to work with her lab! I am so proud of Jason and know all of his hard work has paid off.
His hard work has also paid off with learning how to do car repairs. Our Chevy Silverado had been making an AWFUL noise for a little while whenever we would brake. We finally took a look at it (instead of taking it to a mechanic) and found that the caliper piston was stuck and constantly pushing the brake pad (what was left of it) against the rotor. It ended up being a couple-hundred-dollar repair replacing all of those parts, but was WAY cheaper than if we had taken it in. He has also been saving us a bunch of money by changing our oil since I put 400-600 miles on my car every week. It is my goal to be able to start doing all of my car maintenance and am grateful Jason is here to teach me.
Here are a few more pictures of Austin for your enjoyment:

Until next time... Happy Adventures!
